I thought I would share with you a resource I found when planning for a Year 10 English unit in Assignment 2. You can find it on Scootle – give this a link a try – you might need to sign in first: http://www.scootle.edu.au/ec/viewing/S6222/index.html (Education services Australia, 2013). It relates to the following content descriptor in the Australian Curriculum:
Use a range of software, including word processing programs, confidently, flexibly and imaginatively to create, edit and publish texts, considering the identified purpose and the characteristics of the user (ACELY1776) (ACARA, 2014)
The short video explains using a class Wiki, which can be used in many different ways and a range of subjects, but I really like the idea of using it for a novel study in English. It relates to pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). I think it gives you, the teacher, an opportunity to examine your teaching more critically. It’s quite interesting and gave me some good ideas to consider in the future. Examining your teaching critically will make you a reflective teacher, it’s always good to reflect – test yourself..
How did you go the first time around?
I would also highly recommend checking out Punya Mishra’s website, he has some awesome information about PCK, or more specifically TPACK here. The videos especially are very comprehensive and informative.
